Vikings vs Bengals Game

Shortarmguy and Family at the Vikings vs Bengals Game December 13, 2009
Winter arrived this week and dropped a bunch of wet white snow on our heads. Miss Sheri and the boys were lucky enough to get to stay home from school to play in it and I was lucky enough to go to work and navigate my car over and threw it.
On Thursday night, we had a special treat by taking out Grandma Linda to the Outback to celebrate her 81st birthday. She actually might be a little younger than that, but I just don’t remember.
I told the waitress that it was mom’s birthday and I’d really like her to do something special for her. She sighed, looked at my mom and dead panned: “I can bring you a sundae. Will that make you feel special?” Judging from the look on mom’s face, I think the waitress hit the Bull’s-eye with this one!
On Friday night, I had the pure joy to hang out with my old friend, Jason Hornbuckle, and his new friend, Jen Something. Don’t they just look so cute together?
Suddenly, our old buddy, Brad Bernaman, shows up and tells us that we’re going to the VFW in South St. Paul to see a country band. Needless to say, I got so excited to do this that I nearly peed my pants.
Tim sure had a lot of fun as he danced the night away with all sorts of cute girls. He kept giggling with excitement as I struggled to pull him off the dance floor to get this photo with him. Either that or he’s getting ready to fart. It’s tough to say for sure.
Honestly, we had a pretty good time even though I initially resisted the idea of doing this. But these country music lovin’ folks really know how to have fun! Plus, at the end of the night, they all get together for group pictures which made me feel like we belonged together.
On Sunday afternoon, we had the great pleasure of seeing the Minnesota Vikings take on the Cincinnati Bengals. We hoped it was going to be an exciting game since their records were 10-2 and 9-3 respectively and we weren’t disappointed. The Vikings rode Adrian Peterson to a 30-10 victory and one more step to the Super Bowl Championship they so rightly deserve!
This was our first game of the year and therefore our first time seeing #4 in Purple and Gold. He didn’t do anything overly fantastic throwing for 192 yards, a touchdown and an interception, but it was still amazing watching him play for the home team. We’d gone to several games when he played for the Packers and he usually ended up whipping our butts so it was nice to be able to cheer for him for a change.
Brett Favre used to be Enemy # 1 in Minnesota. Oh, how times have changed!
You meet a lot of interesting people in the stands at Vikings games. This guy told us he dreamed of being the creamy white filling in an Adrian Peterson Oreo Cookie. We just smiled at him and quietly told the children to Back Away.

Nice Email of the Week

I CAME ACROSS YOUR WEBSITE WHILE BROWSING AND I MUST SAY THAT YOUR STORY IS TRULY INSPIRATIONAL. I TOO HAVE AN ARM THAT IS SHORTER THAN THE OTHER BUT NOT BY BIRTH. MY DEFECT HAPPENED BECAUSE OF THE AFTER AFFECTS OF MY MOTHERS DRUG USE WHEN SHE WAS PREGNANT WITH ME. I’M ADOPTED NOW. AND LIKE YOU I HAD TO DEAL WITH KIDS ASKING ME WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. IT’S A HARD THING TO DEAL WITH WHEN YOUR YOUNGER AND THE STARES THAT ADULTS GIVE YOU MAKES YOU WISH YOU COULD FIX IT, THEN AS I GOT OLDER I REALIZED THAT I’M DIFFERENT FOR A REASON AND A SURVIVOR. YOU SEE PEOPLE ON THE NEWS THAT SURVIVE A BOAT SINKING OR A GUN SHOT BUT HOW MANY PPL DO YOU KNOW THAT SURVIVE THEIR FIRST FEW INFANT MONTHS ON I.V’S IN THE HOSPITAL FOR MONTHS? I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT YOU BEING COMFORTABLE WITH THE WAY YOU LOOK MAKES ME FEEL COMFORTABLE AND A LITTLE LESS ALONE. THANKS.-ASHTEN FROM SEATTLE

POSITIVE QUOTE OF THE DAY

—————————–
Most of us miss out on life’s big prizes. The Pulitzer. The Nobel. Oscars. Tonys. Emmys. But we’re all eligible for life’s small pleasures. A pat on the back. A kiss behind the ear. A four-pound
bass. A full moon. An empty parking space. A crackling fire. A great meal. A glorious sunset. Hot soup. Cold beer.
