The Quinlan Recption

Shortarmguy at the Halloween Store — September, 2009
Fall is here and right around the corner is Halloween! We love Halloween at the Shortarmguy house because it’s one time of year that we can scare the crap out of our kids and they don’t get to call the authorities on us! We went to the Halloween Store to test drive some severed heads on each of the boy’s fragile psyches. They didn’t cry very loud so we decided to hold out for something better.
On Saturday night, we went to the wedding reception for our good friends, Sean and Anne Quinlan. They actually were married in Hawaii on 09/09/09, but had a party back home for those who couldn’t make the trip. It was quite the good time!
The Nor-Tech gang doesn’t have a lot of opportunities to get together outside of work, so we always like to turn up the wick a bit when we have the chance. Sean said that they had six kegs of beer for us to finish in just under five hours. It felt like a bit of pressure, but we were ready for the challenge.
I snuck up on Doctor Bollig and took this picture of him while he was eating. I don’t think he noticed I was going to take it.
We had to work with the DJ quite a bit to help him find the right range of dance music to get everyone on the dance floor swinging their feet. He kept playing country music at the beginning of the night which just seemed to scare people away. I’ve heard that some people use that same sound to keep mice and other rodents out of their homes, but I don’t know that for a fact.
This is Steve. He’s been a frequent contributor to Shortarmguy.com for years. I’d never met him in person before and only knew him by his email address. I’m not quite sure how he recognized me out of the crowd, but I was glad to have the chance to meet him!
We spent a lot of time with Chad and Brandi plotting our upcoming release of what is sure to be a Billboard Top 10 single in the category of Rap music. Chad and I are going to dazzle the world with our rhymes while Brandi and Miss Sheri are going to provide backup vocals. We’re still hammering out some minor details like exactly how much nudity there will be in the music video, but I’m confident we’ll be able to get in the studio soon to start recording.
As usual, we ended up hanging out with those crazy Cuddihys until the bar closed. Melissa kept wanting to go back to our hotel room, remove all of our shoes and socks, and then fiddle with each other’s feet but I had to tell her I thought it would be rude if we’d left the recption early. There’s always next time.
One of the great ideas of the night occured at about 3 o’clock in the morning when a group of us thought it would be fantastic to go for a visit to a nearby Ihop restaurant. Sean may be looking pretty smiley here, but about 5 minutes after this photo was taken, he suddenly wasn’t nearly as happy. I sure would have liked to publish some of those photos, but he threatened me with bodily harm if I did.
I have no clue who these guys are, but for about 3 minutes we were Best Friends.
This is Phil. He was the manager on duty and was quite a great guy. I know this because he didn’t throw me out of the restaurant after the gentlemen above and I introduced ourselves. Apparently we weren’t using our inside voices as we shared warm greetings with one another.

Shortarmguy.com will be undergoing some changes in the coming weeks.

I’ve been wanting to convert my website to a better blogging platform for years, but considering I’ve been building this site one page at a time every week for more than10 years now, it’s become a bit unwieldy.  I haven’t figured out a good way to install a better blogging platform on to the front page of this site and still leave my existing pages intact.  If any of you skilled webmasters out there want to help me figure out a good way to do this, I’d certainly be willing to pay you for your time.  Please email me at shortarmguy@aol.com to discuss your ideas.  In the meantime, visit my new site for the same weekly content you’ve been used to except now I’ll be updating it daily!

The new website address is:

 http://shortarmguy.blogspot.com/

Thanks so much for visiting my site!!!
