Diary Entry For March 1, 2009

At Nor-Tech, we’re selling a brand new 3D gaming system based on the new nVidia GeForce 3D Vision platform.  It’s really cool being so immersed in a video game and trying to kill zombies.  It just feels so real!   I was having a blast until one of the bad guys took a bite out of me.  Then I started feeling the changes take hold of me and suddenly I had an overwhelming desire to eat my co-workers brains.   Lucky most of them don’t have any, so they were safe!  Just kidding, loving co-workers.

So I’m sitting in my office working, when suddenly one of my co-worker’s customers stopped by to see me.  He’s a really nice guy named Nick from St. Ansgar, Iowa who apparently likes to visit Shortarmguy.com.  He asked if it was OK if he took a picture of me with his wife.  I said “Absolutely.”  Then I gave him the condition that he had to let me have a picture with my camera as well.  He was happy to oblige and than this young lad named Matt decided to join in on the fun also.  What a great day at work!

On Wednesday night, we had the honor of having dinner with our good friends, Portia and Dr. Vogt.  When I asked Portia if it was OK if I took a picture for my website, she said Sure…what’s your website?  So then I had to tell her all about it.  Now I’m hoping we’re still good friends.

On Saturday night we had the great pleasure of having dinner with our good friends, The Frechettes.  I nearly forgot to grab a photo of them for the website but luckily remembered to take this picture right as we were walking out the door and leaving for the night.  Thus the look in their eyes that says “Dude, get out of here already!”

On Saturday, we had a ton of fun attending Avery’s end of the year basketball tournament!  Here he’s seen practicing near his two coaches.  These gentlemen were just phenomenal coaches who worked hard to develop the skills of the young men on their team.  We were very lucky this year to be a part of their squad!

We were so proud of Avery’s play throughout the tournament.  Although he’s one of the smallest guys out there, he could constantly be found in the middle of the scrum scooping up loose balls and grabbing rebounds.

We were also smiling every time he ran over to set hard picks against boys that seemed to be twice as big as him!  Now I’m not going to kid you and say that Avery’s ball handling skills are exceptional or that he’s a scoring machine, but we’ve always told him that as long as he practiced hard and did his absolute best to contribute in all aspects of the game that his efforts would be appreciated.  And appreciated they were.  Both of his coaches praised him about all the energy he showed on the floor throughout their three games.  One of the parents was even kind enough to tell him he was the “MVP’ of the tournament based on his play.  We know he was just being kind, but we certainly appreciated the sentiment!

We were also delighted to see Avery score a few times.  In the first game, he actually sank two free throws in a row which pretty much shocked every one in the gymnasium.  Later, he scored a basket which tied the ultra close game.  His smile reached from ear to ear!  Unfortunately, the other team pulled out a squeaker and defeated our team by two points in that game.  However, our team came back and won their final two games which allowed them  to win the consolation side of the brackets.  What a great year in basketball!!

Of course, things can never end on a positive note.  Eventually Luke grew quite sick and tired of all the attention Avery was getting playing basketball, so he decided to take matters into his own hands.  Things then got just a little bit messy.

All right, I know this video is really cheesy and the footage of Avery playing isn’t that impressive.  But I made the video, I like it, I’m proud of my son,  and I’m hoping at least some of you will enjoy it as well!

Have a great week!!

Email from a Married Woman

The Black Bra

I had lunch with 2 of my unmarried friends.

One is engaged, one is a mistress, and of course I have been married for 20+ years.

We were chatting about our relationships and decided to amaze our men by wearing a black leather bra, stiletto heels and a mask over our eyes. We agreed to meet in a few days to exchange notes. Here’s how it all went.

My engaged friend:

The other night my boyfriend came over and found me with a black leather bodice, tall stilettos and a mask.  He saw me and said, you are the woman of my dreams. I love you.’

Then we made love all night long.

The mistress:

Me too! The other night I met my lover at his office and I was wearing the leather bodice, heels and mask over my eyes and a raincoat. When I opened the raincoat he didn’t say a word, but we had wild sex all night.

Then I had to share my story:

When my husband came home I was wearing the leather bodice, black stockings, stilettos and a mask over my eyes.

As soon as he came in the door and saw me he said,

“What’s for dinner, Batman?”

I think we should go back to the times when people traveled in tribes.  In those days, if a baby was born with a disability, they would just leave it on a hillside and walk away.  Society was a better place back in those days!!
